Identify the Unknown Device
Open Device Manager and look under System devices or Other devices for an item with a yellow warning. Right-click → Properties → Details → Hardware Ids. An ID containing the NPU or AI Boost identifier confirms it is the Intel NPU on the S5506.
Install via MyASUS Live Update
Open MyASUS → Customer Support → Live Update. Install all recommended driver updates. Live Update fetches the correct Intel AI Boost NPU driver for the Vivobook S 15 OLED S5506 automatically.
Or Download the NPU Driver Manually
Go to the ASUS S5506 support page → Driver and Tools → download the Intel AI Boost NPU driver. Run the installer and restart. The device should now read Intel AI Boost without a warning mark.
Verify Studio Effects
Settings → Bluetooth and devices → Cameras → select the camera. Windows Studio Effects such as Background blur and Eye contact should now be available, confirming the NPU is active on the S5506.
