Fingerprint Not Enrolling — Windows Hello Biometric Fix

Clean the Fingerprint Sensor
Wipe the fingerprint sensor on the EliteBook 840 G11 keyboard deck with a dry microfibre cloth. Skin oil and moisture build-up on the sensor surface is the most common reason enrollment fails or gets stuck at the scanning animation. Use a dry finger each time you attempt to enroll.
Delete Existing Fingerprints and Re-Enroll
Open Settings and go to Accounts, then Sign-in options. Under Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello), click Remove to delete all saved fingerprints. After removal, click Add a fingerprint and enroll your preferred finger again from scratch. Existing corrupted entries can block new enrollments from completing.

Reinstall the Biometric Driver from HP Support
Go to support.hp.com and search for EliteBook 840 G11. Under Drivers, look in the Security category for the fingerprint driver. The G11 uses either a Synaptics or Goodix sensor. Download the correct one for your unit and run the installer. Restart, then attempt enrollment again from Settings.
Restart the Windows Biometric Service
Press Windows + R and type services.msc. Find Windows Biometric Service in the list, right-click it, and choose Restart. If the service is stopped, click Start. This resets the biometric framework without requiring a system restart and often allows enrollment to proceed when it was previously stuck.

Fingerprint enrollment kept failing on my EliteBook 840 G11. Restarting the Windows Biometric Service and re-enrolling with a clean dry finger fixed it straight away. — Nurul, Kuala Lumpur
