The webcam shows a black screen on the Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 5 during video calls or when opening the Camera app. A physical privacy shutter, Windows privacy settings, or an outdated AMD-platform camera driver is typically the cause.

Check the Privacy Shutter
Slide the physical shutter switch on the bezel to the right (open position). The red indicator should not be visible when the shutter is open.
Allow Camera in Privacy Settings
Settings → Privacy and security → Camera → turn on Camera access and allow the app you are using.
Reinstall Camera Driver
Device Manager → Cameras → uninstall the integrated camera. Download and install from Lenovo Support for E14 Gen 5. Restart.
Reinstall IR Camera Driver
If Windows Hello IR camera conflicts with the webcam, uninstall the IR camera driver in Device Manager and reinstall from Lenovo Support.
“The physical shutter was partially closed. Sliding it fully open fixed my E14 Gen 5 camera instantly.” — Izzatul, Kuala Lumpur
