Why it happens
USB-C to HDMI adapter plugged into the data-only right-side USB-C port which does not carry video signal
Outdated Intel Arc graphics driver does not enumerate DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C properly
Display output mode in Windows 11 is set to “PC screen only” instead of Extend or Duplicate
USB-C adapter does not support DisplayPort Alt Mode — passive adapters from unknown brands often lack Alt Mode support

How to fix
Use the left-side USB-C port (identified by the Thunderbolt icon) for video output. The right-side USB-C port carries data and power only.
Press Win + P after connecting the adapter and select Extend or Duplicate. Windows 11 may default to “PC screen only” when a new display is connected.
Run Lenovo Vantage → System Update. Install the Intel Arc Graphics driver and any Thunderbolt driver updates for ThinkPad E16 Gen 2.
Replace the USB-C adapter with one that explicitly states “DisplayPort Alt Mode” support. Branded adapters from Lenovo, Anker, or CalDigit are reliable choices for the ThinkPad E16 Gen 2.
“Using the left Thunderbolt USB-C port and updating the Intel Arc driver from Lenovo Vantage fixed the video output on my ThinkPad E16 Gen 2.” — Iskandar, Seremban
