Windows 11
The fingerprint sensor on the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 accepts finger scans during enrollment but fails to save the fingerprint, showing an error or looping back to the start. The Intel Core Ultra 7 155U model uses a Goodix sensor that requires a specific Lenovo-supplied biometric driver to complete enrollment through Windows Hello.

Fix 1 — Run System Update in Lenovo Vantage
Open Lenovo Vantage → System Update → Check for updates. Install all available driver updates, especially any listed under Biometrics or Security. Restart and try fingerprint enrollment again. Lenovo Vantage delivers the correct Goodix driver version for the P14s Gen 5.
Fix 2 — Reinstall Goodix Fingerprint Driver
Device Manager → Biometric devices → right-click Goodix Fingerprint → Uninstall device. Download the Goodix or fingerprint driver from Lenovo Support for ThinkPad P14s Gen 5. Install and restart.

Fix 3 — Clear Fingerprint Data and Re-Enroll
Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options → Windows Hello Fingerprint → Remove all stored fingerprints. Restart the laptop. After restarting, click Set up and follow the enrollment wizard, swiping each finger multiple times when prompted.
Fix 4 — Check Windows Biometric Service
Press Win + R → type services.msc → find Windows Biometric Service. Ensure it is set to Automatic (Delayed Start) and click Start if it is stopped. This service must be running for Windows Hello fingerprint enrollment to work.
