Windows 11
The fingerprint reader on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 stops working after Windows 11 updates or fails to recognise enrolled fingerprints. The Intel Core i7 1365U platform relies on a dedicated Goodix sensor that is sensitive to driver version mismatches.

Fix 1 — Reinstall Fingerprint Driver
Open Device Manager, expand Biometric devices, right-click the Goodix fingerprint sensor and choose Uninstall device. Delete the driver software, restart, then download and install the latest driver from the Lenovo support page.
Fix 2 — Remove and Re-enroll Fingerprints
- Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options
- Under Windows Hello Fingerprint, click Remove
- Restart the laptop
- Return to Sign-in options and click Set up to enroll again

Fix 3 — Use Lenovo Vantage Diagnostics
Open Lenovo Vantage, navigate to Device Settings, then Fingerprint. Run the hardware diagnostic. If it reports a sensor error, use Vantage to install the recommended driver version directly.
Fix 4 — Update BIOS
Lenovo releases BIOS updates that fix sensor communication bugs. In Lenovo Vantage, go to System Update and install any available BIOS update. Restart and test the fingerprint reader.
